1. Introduction

Dream Decoder ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Amedya. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). By using Dream Decoder, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and profile photo (if provided). You may sign in using Google or Apple, in which case we receive your name and email from those providers.

Dream Content

We collect the dream journal entries you submit, including dream descriptions, themes, emotions, and any associated audio recordings. This content is necessary to provide AI-powered dream analysis.

Location Information

We may collect your approximate location (city level) to provide location-based dream insights. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the Service, such as features used, screens viewed and session duration, to improve the application. On the website this is collected only if you accept analytics cookies (see Section 5).

Device and Log Data

Our servers and hosting provider automatically receive your IP address, browser or device type, operating system, language, referring page and the time of each request. This is used for security, rate limiting, debugging and aggregate statistics.

Error Reports

If the app or website crashes, a technical error report (stack trace, device model, OS and app version) is sent to Sentry. Error reports are configured to exclude dream text and personal identifiers.

Payment Information

Payment transactions are processed by Stripe (web) and Adapty (mobile). We do not store your full payment card details. We receive confirmation of subscription status from these providers.

3. How We Use Your Information

To provide AI-powered dream analysis and interpretations. Your dream text is sent to an AI language model provider (currently OpenAI, with Mistral models hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI and Google Gemini as fallbacks) solely to generate your interpretation; it is not used to train their models
To generate audio playback of dream interpretations using OpenAI text-to-speech
To personalize your experience and maintain your dream journal
To manage your subscription and process payments
To display community dream content if you choose to make dreams public
To send notifications about activity on your shared content (likes, comments)
To improve and maintain the Service
To comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Dream Decoder:

Cloudflare — hosting, API, content delivery, file storage (R2) and AI inference (Workers AI)
Neon — managed PostgreSQL database where your account and dream data are stored
OpenAI — AI dream analysis and text-to-speech audio generation
Mistral AI (via Cloudflare Workers AI) and Google Gemini — fallback AI dream analysis
Stripe — payment processing (web)
Adapty — subscription management (mobile)
Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In — third-party authentication
Google Analytics for Firebase — usage analytics (website: only with your consent)
Google AdSense — advertising on the website (see Section 5)
Sentry — crash and error reporting

These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.

5. Cookies and Advertising

The website uses cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels and web beacons). They fall into two groups:

Essential — keeping you signed in, remembering your language and theme, and storing your cookie choice. These are required for the Service to work and are always on.
Analytics and advertising — Google Analytics cookies that measure how the site is used, and Google advertising cookies. These are set only after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you decline, none of them are set.

We use Google AdSense to show advertisements on the website. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. Other third-party ad vendors and networks may also use cookies to serve ads on our site; you can review Google's list of vendors at this page.

We do not show personalized ads to users we know to be under 18, and we do not target ads based on health, sexual orientation, religion or other sensitive categories. Ads are not shown inside the mobile app.

You can change your cookie choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, after which the banner will appear again. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We never pass your dream text, email address or other personal information to Google for advertising purposes. We do not share your private dream journal entries with other users unless you explicitly choose to make a dream public. Shared dreams display your display name and any profile information you have set as public in your privacy settings.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all associated data — including dream entries, profile information, comments, and audio files — is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:

Access — request a copy of your personal data
Correction — update inaccurate information via your profile settings
Deletion — delete your account and all associated data from the app settings, on the web, or by email. See Delete Your Account & Data for every option and what is removed.
Portability — request an export of your dream data
Objection — opt out of non-essential data processing

9. Children's Privacy

Dream Decoder is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), row-level security on our database, and secure authentication. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
